Endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) uses an endoscope, which is a thin, flexible and lighted instrument, that is fed through the nose to identify the problematic portion of sinus. Surgical instruments are then inserted alongside the endoscope. Tissue or bone that is blocking the sinus opening is cut away. Your nose may be packed with a light sponge or dissolvable packing to absorb bloody drainage. You will be prescribed antibiotics and pain medications during the post-operative period.
