Lip and chin augmentation uses fillers and surgical implants to alter the underlying structure of the face and provide a better balance to the facial features. It is an option for anyone who feels their lips or chin is not proportioned to their face. Dr. Abram is board certified in these type of procedures.
A lip augmentation is a non-surgical procedure to give the appearance of full, plump lips. The most common lip augmentation is the injection of a dermal filler into the lips or in the area around the mouth. This procedure typically uses hyaluronic acid fillers, which improve the appearance of the lips by adding shape, structure and volume.
Hyaluronic fillers have benefits versus other fillers. They give the doctor better control of lip volume, involve gradual injections, lumps and bumps dissolve easily, there is less bruising and reasonably lasting results. An allergic reaction is unlikely because these fillers are made from a substance that is found in the body.
A chin augmentation is a surgical procedure where a surgical implant is inserted under the skin to give a more rounded appearance to the chin. A cut is made inside the mouth or outside the mouth under the chin. A pocket is created in front of the chin bone and under the muscles where the implant can be placed. Patients typically resume usual activities within seven to 10 days; however, a brace may be required for four to six weeks.
